Sweet Vermicelli is a dessert which is enjoyed across the global and specially in the sub-continent. It is quite easy to make and takes just 5 ingredients. A simple and easy to replicate recipe is shared below.

Ingredients:
1. Wheat Vermicelli (150 grams)
2. Green Cardamom (5 pods)
3. White Sugar (8 Tablespoons)
4. Water (4 cups or 800 ml)
5. Cooking Oil (5 Tablespoons)
Serving Size:
Serves 4
Method:
Preparing Sugar Syrup:
1. Pour 800 ml of water in a sauce pan and bring it to boil.
2. Now add 8 Tbsp of sugar in boiling water and stir well til all the sugar is dissolved.
3. Turn off the stove, cover the sauce pan and put aside for now.
Now we will saute vermicelli
4. Take a sauce pan (preferably non-stick) and pour 5 Tbsp of cooking oil and cardamom pods (5) and fry on medium heat till pods turn light brown.
5. Now break vermicelli to fit the sauce pan and fry them on medium flame until they turn light brown.
6. Now pour the sugar syrup into the fried vermicelli and bring it to boil.
7. Now cover the sauce pan and turn the flame to medium-low and wait til all the syrup is absorbed by the vermicelli.Usually it takes 5-8 mins. Stir in between if needed but avoid stirring more than twice as it lowers the temperature.
8. Your vermicelli are ready now. Place it in a bowl and garnish with almonds (optional)

You can adjust amount of sugar according to taste.
