General Tips For Every Household

1. Never Spray Insecticides Near Open Flame
This is number one in our list because it deals with the health and safety of family members. Never spray insecticides, perfume or any other aerosol spray near an open flame. The reason is that most of the sprays contains inflammable particles that catch fire upon ignition. There are often incidents reported in news regarding fires related to aerosol sprays near open fires.

2. Spray Insecticides When You Are Going Outside
If you want to spray insecticides in your home, it is better to do it when you can ensure no one will be at home for next 3 hours. The reason is that most of these chemicals are harmful for human health if inhaled in enough quantity especially for young children. People often get headaches due to the strong smell of many insecticides. It is better to spray when the whole family is going out for at least 3 hours. Make sure there is ventilation in the house. If the smell is still strong upon return, open up windows for some fresh air.

3. Use Non-stick Utensils If Possible
Using non-stick utensils saves you from worrying about burn your food and constant stirring. Purchase a good quality saucepan that you can use to cook a variety of dishes in it. If the budget does not allow it or you are not comfortable in using non-stick coated cookware then use butter or green onions to glaze the bottom of your ordinary cookware. This will somewhat give the non-stick property to the utensils but is not 100% guaranteed.

4. Cover Electrical Sockets If You Have Young Children
It is important to cover all electrical outlets in your house with insulating plug covers. They are very cheap but the protection they offer is more than any money in this world. If you have children below the age of ten, it is better to keep the unused plugs covered. Educate your children about electrical safety and hazards at appropriate ages.

5. Inspect Your House For Infestations
Many infestations cost less if noticed early on. Look around your house for the signs of cockroach, mosquito, rat or bat infestations. Few infestations could be dealt with all by yourself such as cockroach or mosquito infestation. For rat and bat infestation, you may require professional help. Look in the nooks and corners of your kitchen, bedrooms, living rooms and garden etc. For termite infestation, check all of your furniture, inspect your attic and basement. Termites mostly attack soft and wet wood as they are easy to consume. Check your trees and plants too in the garden.

6. Install a High-hanging UV Mosquito Killer
If you happen to live in moderate climate then it is recommended to have a high hanging UV mosquito killer. They consume very little energy but the job they do is marvelous. Not only it will kill mosquitoes but will also deal with housefly issues. By hanging it high, its effectiveness is increased and children are kept safe too.
